In a nutshell:
While out riding one day, Elena and her best friend Melike find an injured deer. The forest ranger tells them that there have recently been several attacks on wild animals. Elena is shocked: could there be a dog running wild in the woods round Blackbird Farm, or perhaps even a real wolf up to no good? She is worried about her newly-born foal. Luckily she has a friend in Farid, and she can tell him all about her fears. Will they be able to solve the mystery of these strange happenings together?
Things have gradually calmed down after the dramatic events of the Christmas holidays and life has gone back to normal on Blackbird Farm. Elena is still head over heels in love with Farid. But the carefree period is short, for while out riding one day Elena and Melike find an injured deer. Lajos is able to save it, but they find out that there have recently been several attacks on wild animals. Could there be a dog running wild in the woods round Blackbird Farm, or perhaps even a real wolf up to no good? Also at the vet's where Elena is doing work experience, they find themselves facing more and more cases of dogs being bitten. Could there be a connection? Elena is particularly worried about the foal to be born on Blackbird Farm. Is it at jeopardy as well? Together with Farid and Melike, Elena sets out to find clues. In the process they keep clashing with the owner of the new boarding horses, a woman they find suspicious, especially since she owns two big wolfhounds that fit the description of the stray animals witnesses report have been running wild in the woods. One of the dogs is even taken to an animal home for observation. If Mogli really is found to be the animal the police and the forest ranger are looking for it will immediately be put down. Even at tournaments these attacks are the subject of lively discussions. And so Elena at last starts talking again to her ex-boyfriend, Tim, who, for reasons she finds inexplicable, has come back to live with his father on Sun Farm. But their anxieties about the horses unite them, and it is Tim who finds the decisive clue: a woman from Hettenbach, whom Elena and her friends had already suspected and, contrary to what she has told the police, sometimes takes a dog in for holiday care. Her son, a shady guy from Berlin Tim used to know, drops his disobedient dog in at his mother's from time to time. Elena and Melike decide to get to the bottom of it all and travel to the capital city, for Mogli is under threat of death if there are no other suspects. The two girls are taking a big risk, but they manage to take photos and make a video of the possibly guilty dog and its owner and in the end have all the necessary evidence for Mogli's name to be cleared in the nick of time. That is the end of the whole horrid episode. Now at last Elena can look forward to quieter times with Farid and her little foal.
